    Dr. David Gibson is the Director of Research and Development at the National Institute for Community Innovations as well as the Vermont Institutes, concentrating on partnership development and new programs, systems analysis, evaluation, higher education reform and statewide professional development planning. He is also works on vision and project development, strategic planning, professional network building, national partners, and telecommunications in learning. His research and publications include work on complex systems analysis and modeling of education and the use of technology to personalize education for the success of all students.

  • Gina Amenta-Shin Ed. D.
    Gina is a member of ISTE's NETS for Teachers Writing Team and NSCD's Staff Development Standards for Online Learning Team . Through her past experiences as both a doctoral student and professor, Gina has developed multiple perspectives of distance learning - using interactive technology and virtual communities to facilitate online professional development. Her research interests include analyses of how learners construct their own understanding based on their prior experience. She believes it is important to build on the conceptual and cultural knowledge students bring to the classroom and to discover strategies for strengthening achievement for all students in a collaborative culture. The majority of Dr. Amenta-Shin's work with NICI introduces teachers to a process for rethinking classroom teaching and learning. Through an inquiry-based learning approach educators discuss, study, plan, apply, and reflect on integrating technology into a student-centered learning environment.
  • National Educational Technology Standards (NETS)
    The primary goal of the ISTE NETS Project is to enable stakeholders in PreK-12 education to develop national standards for educational uses of technology that facilitate school improvement in the United States. The NETS Project will work to define standards for students, integrating curriculum technology, technology support, and standards for student assessment and evaluation of technology use. (This is a PT3 funded initiative.)

  • Project VIEW
    Project VIEW, a Federal Technology Innovation Challenge Grant is led by the Schenectady City School District. This program is designed to open the classroom door so that students and teachers can engage in an array of learning opportunities by utilizing interactive education technology which accesses content-rich resources, activities and the exchange of ideas.
  • PT3 Profiler
    Use Profiler to strengthen your organization's ability to share expertise. You can build or take an online survey to assess your abilities in any given subject and then utilize Profiler to locate someone who can help you strengthen these skills within your immediate learning community. A showcased series of surveys includes ISTE approved NETS standards. (This is a PT3 funded initiative.)
  • The Digital Classroom: Using Primary Sources
    To encourage teachers of students at all levels to use archival documents in the classroom, the Digital Classroom provides materials from the National Archives and methods for teaching with primary sources.
